Stem Cell Research and Regeneration on Cardiology

Since more than 150 years ago, heart regeneration has been hotly debated and subject to much research. The heart has been injured, sliced, closed up, coagulated, solidified, filled with poisons, infected, and infarcted in the pursuit of this investigation, looking at species ranging from marine spineless invertebrates to horses. The heart is one of the body's least regenerative organs, therefore if there is a regenerative response, it is comparable to those seen in many other distinct tissues, such as the liver, skeletal muscle, lung, gut, bladder, bone, or skin.
